Jonny McPherson , was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames , is an English actor , best known for Emmerdale.
Jonny has appeared in various roles in Emmerdale since 2008. Initially he was credited as 'Doctor Jonathan Boam' in 2008. He returned in 2010, being credited as 'Male Nurse'. He appeared again in 2011 and 2013, this time being credited simply as 'Doctor'. Jonny appeared again in 2014, being credited as 'Dr Cavanagh'.
Jonny McPherson is the son of Montessori Principal Wendy Patricia McPherson and Medeas Andreas Panagi, a London-born Greek Cypriot. Raised by his mother in rural Norfolk, he gained a scholarship to study at Rugby School before moving to London to train at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
Since graduating, Jonny has worked steadily in theatre, television and film. He is a core ensemble member of The Faction, a multi-award winning, London-based theatre company dedicated to interpreting classical texts with a contemporary aesthetic. In 2014 he played Hamlet in a critically acclaimed, sell-out run. In September of 2013, he was offered the regular role of GP Dr Charlie Cavanagh in ITV's Emmerdale, a character he continues to play.
