Bill Blair was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. He is the son of a police officer and served 39 years with the Toronto Police Force, the last decade as its Chief of Police.
Blair was elected Member of Parliament (MP) in the Scarborough Southwest riding in October 2015. In December 2015, he was named parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Justice and in January 2016, he was named as the head of the federal-provincial task force tasked with creating a plan for the legalization of cannabis in Canada. Blair assumed additional parliamentary secretary responsibilities assisting the Minister of Health beginning September 2017.
