For someone who grew up as an adopted child, and still came from a broken foster home, Josh Elliott was determined to succeed against all the odds. Having worked in almost all the major news networks in America, this veteran journalist is no longer a rookie in the profession. He became widely known as a sportscaster when he began working with ESPN. He became even more popular after he joined ABC and started anchoring the Good Morning America show.
As a multi-talented journalist, he cut across all the various aspects of broadcast journalism and has worked with NBC Sports as a sportscaster and with CBS, where he anchored the news. He also served as a host for National Geographic Channel.
Professionally known as Josh Elliott, Josh Michael Elliott was born on the 6th of July 1971. His mother's name is Susan, but she gave him up to be adopted by Charles Elliott and Toni Jordan, who raised him in their Los Angeles, country home in the USA. When he clocked 13, his father admitted to being a homosexual. And this led to his parents' divorce. His father eventually died two years later.
He was educated at Loyola High School, Los Angeles, after which he proceeded to enroll in the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). His initial plan of attending UCSB was to join the University Water Polo athletics team – The Gauchos, but he found himself working with the university's newspaper team – The Daily Nexus, instead. He finally graduated in 1993 with a B. A in English Literature.
After graduating from UCSB, he worked briefly with Santa Barbara News-Press as a freelance journalist and also started his postgraduate studies at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He finished in 1999 with an MSc degree.
Before joining National Geographic, Josh Elliott started his career with Sports Illustrated, where he had a 6-year run as a sports reporter. He also worked for Galaxy Productions, and subsequently, 20th Century Fox, all as a TV producer. In 2004, he joined ESPN and worked in several capacities and on different shows, but his impact was majorly felt in 2008 when he started co-hosting SportsCenter with Hannah Storm.
When he left ESPN in 2011, he joined the ABC network, where he took over from Juju Chang to anchor Good Morning America. He also hosted Good Afternoon America, the afternoon edition of GMA in 2012. At the expiration of his contract ended with ABC in 2014, he proceeded to join NBC as a sports anchor. He also served as a host for The Today Show. Unfortunately, in 2015, his stay at ABC came to an abrupt end.
He was hired by CBS News in 2016 but had a very short stay of 11 months with them. While there, he was the lead anchor of CBSN, the news channel of the network. He was later fired amid huge misunderstandings in 2017.
The journalist is a happily married family man and husband to Liz Cho, his second wife. Liz Cho is also a reporter and anchor at local TV channel – WABC-TV. The couple reportedly got married in 2015, after dating for three years. Their wedding was officiated by Josh Elliott's former colleague – Sam Champion, from The Weather Channel. The wedding ceremony held at Villa Sevillano in Montecito, California.
Although the television show host was formerly the husband of Priya Narang, an Indian lady with whom he had a daughter, the marriage ended in divorce due to infidelity on Elliott's part. His daughter's name is Sarina Elliott, and she was birthed sometime in 2009. Josh Elliott is yet to father another child with his second wife, Liz Cho. However, Liz Cho has a daughter Louisa born in 2007.
It was reported that Elliott got fired from CBS News on 13th February 2017. That unarguably was the highest stint and setback he has experienced in his career so far. Although he left CBS on not-so-happy grounds, it was difficult to determine where his next stop will be.
Nevertheless, he surprisingly made a comeback to the screens when he co-hosted Yellowstone Live on the National Geographic Channel with Chris Packham in the summer of 2018. The show is an event that lasted for four days, and it centered on bringing beauties of the greater yellow ecosystem to the fore. He works as a freelance media agent.
