Giovannie Cruz was born on a military instillation in Wuerzburg, Germany to Sergeant Alfredo and pre-school teacher Lourdes from Puerto Rico. After coming to the United States, her family settled in Texas.
Her childhood consisted of local musical theatre and choir performances where Giovannie stood out as a superior vocalist. On the insistence of her teachers, Giovannie attended the University of North Texas' College of Music where she studied Opera/Early Music theater as well as German. While in college, Giovannie participated in a number of student films.
After graduating, Giovannie joined a cover band and began film acting. She has done cartoon voice-over work as well as films.
