Amy Wang

Amy Wang is a Chinese-Australian director and writer who grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Her undergraduate film Blind Luck (2011) received an honorable mention at the LA Film Festival and screened in numerous festivals around the world. Upon graduation, Wang worked as a promos producer, where she directed shoots for The X Factor Australia and worked on shows such as Criminal Minds, Downton Abbey and How to Get Away with Murder.

Wang completed her Master's degree as a directing fellow at the American Film Institute where she was awarded a scholarship. She was selected to participate in the prestigious Ryan Murphy Half Foundation where she was mentored by Executive Producer/Director Bradley Buecker on American Horror Story Season 6. Her thesis film Unnatural (2017) has been nominated for the Grand Prix at the highly prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and won an Honorable Mention at Rochester Film Festival and Barcelona International Film Festival. Wang was also awarded Gold at the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions 2018. Her latest short screenplay Wa Wa was a finalist in the Shore Film Fund, Lexus/Sydney Film Festival Fellowship and the Bluecat Screenplay Competition.

Wang is best known for The Birch (2019) and From Scratch (2022).
