Mika Ronkainen

Mika Ronkainen was born on August 6th, 1970, in Kuusamo in northern Finland. He started directing documentary films at the age of 26. After having created internationally successful documentary films Finnisches Blut, schwedisches Herz (2012), Freetime Machos (2009) and Schreiende Männer (2003), Ronkainen ventured into the world of scripted drama with Alle Sünden (2019), a crime drama series he directed, co-created and co-wrote. In 2013, Variety magazine selected Ronkainen as one of the ten up-and-coming European directors to watch. Ronkainen is one of the founders of Air Guitar World Championships which has been organized annually in his hometown Oulu, Finland, since 1996.
