Steve Kamer grew up in Bordentown, New Jersey, and always wanted to be in front of a microphone from as far back as he can remember. Like so many other aspiring broadcasters, he would often imitate announcers that he heard on TV and radio, by speaking into bottles, spoons, pencils, pens, and any household object that resembled a microphone.
Steve attended the University of Southern California / Annenberg School for Communication. He took numerous voice-over classes in Hollywood to learn the intricacies of a successful voice-over career, everything from microphone technique and demo production, to marketing yourself and getting an agent.
Steve is now one of the preeminent voices in the business, and is probably most recognized for his twenty-year run as the voice of CBS Television Distribution's "Inside Edition", voicing five consecutive Olympics for NBC Sports, and his fifteen-year run as the signature voice of the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network, or simply "YES".
Steve's work has been heard on promos for HBO, NBC News, NBC Sports, "Donahue," "Geraldo," "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee," CBS News, "Martha Stewart Living," CNN and ESPN Classic, to name a few. Steve also voices local, regional, and national spots for Pep Boys, Gold Bond, Circuit City, La-Z-Boy Furniture, Ortho Bug-B-Gon Max, and Rite Aid.
New York and New Jersey area residents also recognize Steve's friendly voice as the guy they hear on the "PATH Train," telling them to "Stand clear of the closing doors, please!"
Steve is not just a working voice actor, but a virtual historian of the craft. Steve's passion for those who came before him, along with his mentorship of those coming into the business today, makes him one of the most well-rounded players in the industry.
Steve is a proud client of the Atlas Talent Agency on both coasts, and as of March 2010, he is pleased to announce his association with Wintner Artist Management.
