Alex Chester

Alex started performing professionally at the age of 5. She began her career in modeling, and was the cover for such magazines as Parenting, Woman's Day, and Victoria Magazine. She modeled children's clothing lines along with posters for malls, FAO Schwartz, Mattel, various catalogues, department store, and newspaper ads.
With a successful modeling career underway Alex ventured into commercials and became the face that introduced the Chevy Geo to the world.  Since then she's been in commercials for Ford Kuga, H&M, T-Mobil with Tracy Morgan, MLB, UPS, Bacardi, and most recently Popeyes.
Television followed commercials, including such shows as 7th Heaven, Boston Public, ER,The Closer,  and The Goodwife. Most recently she can be seen on New Amsterdam in episode 210. Alex filmed the title role in the Independent film, The Mermaid, produced by the award winning production company, Walter Robot Studios.
Alex even had a stint in the pop world as a member of the girl group, Dream, produced by Sean Combs.
Theatre has always been Alex's passion and Alex has played  Punky Who in  Broadway's How The Grinch Stole Christmas at the Pantages Theatre and Gymslip Who at Madison Square Gardens, The Magic Carpet in Disney's Aladdin a Musical Spectacular, Connie in A Chorus Line for the Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Minnie Fay in Hello, Dolly! for the National Asian Artist Project. She also played Little Red in Into The Woods with Prospect Theatre Co/NAAP, and Alex broke the mold by playing Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre in The 25th Annual County Spelling Bee with Fire Island Pines Arts Project.
Alex has had the pleasure of working with Jeff Marx, co-creator of Ave Q, who wrote the role of Connie for her in his 15 minute musical, Oh God, We're Gonna Die. She is also on the original cast recording of Bubble Boy by Cinco Paul starring Alice Ripley.
Besides acting, Alex is an activist in the Asian American theatre community. She has published several articles and interviews about representation and diversity in the theatre arts on HuffPo. Her writing can also be read on OnStage Blog. Alex is the creator and Editor-in-Chief of the online magazine Hapa Mag. She is also a co-host on the podcast We're Not All Ninjas - Asian Americans on AsAm in Film. She is also part of the first all Asian American Sketch Comedy Troupe Model Majority,
Alex is also a huge foodie, a crazy cat lady and she is currently working on her bachelor's degree in theatre through St. Mary's College LEAP Program and was awarded The Caroline H. Newhouse Scholarship for Dancers.
