Mark Edward Kelly is an astronaut, engineer, and former U.S. Navy captain. He is the author of multiple books as well as an aerospace executive and consultant, and is the Democratic nominee in the 2020 United States Senate election in Arizona. His wife is former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was shot and nearly killed in a 2011 assassination attempt where six other people were killed.
