Jenni Butterworth

She did a degree in archaeology at Bristol University, and in her final year took Mick Aston's monasteries course. It was while she was working on her PhD that Mick first invited her to do some digging for Time Team. The first programme she did was a monastery she was studying called Templecombe, in Somerset (recorded in 1995). Jenni finished her PhD in 2000, and graduated to become Dr Butterworth in July 2001. Apart from digging in excavations she is also one of the people who read the mail they get and do various pre-excavation research including visiting potential sites gathering information prior to the recordings.

Jenni Butterworth (PhD) gained her BA in Archaeology and Doctorate in Landscape Archaeology from the University of Bristol. After a career in television production, since 2013 she has worked as a freelance consultant in the heritage and publishing sector, focusing on project management and coordination, editing and exhibition support. She is a member of the Society for Museum Archaeology Committee, and has recently edited an ACE-funded volume of best-practice case studies of museum engagement with archaeological collections.
