Marissa Shankar was born in Los Angeles, CA to Indo-Fijian immigrants, making her first-generation American citizen. Although she's expressed a strong passion for film from a young age, as she worked toward her Bachelors in Arts at CSU Monterey Bay, she has found a new love for film, including a mission she adapted for herself as a female filmmaker. As she grew up, Shankar found that having an artistic outlet was the perfect way for her to express her thoughts, visions, and imaginations. The lack of diversity in films is what renewed her inspiration to be a filmmaker and help change the world through the art of storytelling.
Shankar has attended New York Film Academy for Digital Filmmaking in Burbank, as well as interning for independent film company, Vanishing Angle in Los Angeles. She is an incredibly passionate Filmmaker, and ready to start collaborating with you on any projects you may have in mind.
