The One with the Baby Carrot Recap

Lucifer brings a woman back to his penthouse and they go to his bed. When he sprouts his white wings, the woman figures that he's an angel. Lucifer apologizes and retracts them, but she figures that they're cosplaying. Furious, Lucifer tells her to leave as he takes out Maze's knife.

The next day, Lucifer meets with Linda. When he tells her what he did, Linda worries that he's engaging in self-mutilation. Lucifer insists that he won't be something that he isn't, and says that Sinnerman is responsible. He wonders if Linda is ready to be back at work, and she assures him that she's fine. Lucifer explains that Sinnerman has stolen his shtick of giving out favors in return for future repayment, and figures that Sinnerman is taunting him. He doesn't know if his nemesis is human or not, but vows to find him.

Later at the station, Chloe tells Lucifer that they found Mike Alonso, the man who skewered Sam under the pier. Mike has no alibi and confessed under interrogation. Chloe refuses to let Lucifer drag her into his new weird drama. Marcus overhears them talking about Sinnerman and Chloe dismisses it as nothing. He wonders if Chloe is hiding something from her, and gives her a new case. Once Marcus leaves, Chloe tells Lucifer that Sinnerman is an urban myth and she didn't want to tell Marcus about it. She says that if Lucifer can bring her any existence of Sinnerman's existence, she'll look into it. Until then, she tells her partner to focus on the current case.

Lucifer and Chloe go to the crime scene near a bridge. Dan says that the victim is JD Woodstock, and he lived nearby. He was unemployed, and had a book of jokes on him. They figure he was a struggling comedian, Lucifer points out that Dan does improve, and Dan angrily insists that it's not the same as stand-up. Chloe is surprised to learn that her ex does improve. Ella comes over and tells them that she found three shell casings. She figures that JD was tortured before he died, and recognizes his name. A couple of days ago JD claimed that Bobby Lowe stole his jokes, and points out a nearby billboard with Bobby's face. Bobby's routine is built on his life, and Lucifer says that he's been going through something similar so he's going to bring JD's killer to justice. Marcus watches them from a distance and listens in a parabolic mic.

Back at the station, Lucifer and Chloe watch JD's Youtube video saying that he found proof that Bobby is a fraud. JD posted the video the day before he died, and the police haven't found the evidence. Ella suggests that JD is a liar, insisting that Bobby would never do anything because his show is too personal. She asks to go with them when they tell her that they're going to talk to Bobby, and Chloe reluctantly agrees.

That night, Linda arranges to meet Amenadiel at a club and thanks him for saving her life. He asks how she's really doing, and Linda insists that she's fine. Linda says that having his powers back must be exciting, and Amenadiel admits that they haven't worked since then. He figures that God is testing him, and there's something he needs to do in the penthouse and he's avoiding it. She offers to help him, sure that she can handle it.

At the penthouse, Amenadiel shows Linda the angel wings that Lucifer cut off. He says that Lucifer just left proof of the divine lying on the floor, and tells her to get the garbage bags.

At the station, Dan visits Marcus and insists that he's not a dirty cop. Marcus confirms that Dan did what got him into trouble, and wants all of the intel that he's gathered on Lucifer. The lieutenant figures that Dan dug up everything that he could on Lucifer when he started working with Chloe, and Dan admits that he did.

Lucifer, Chloe, and Ella go to Bobby's TV studio and brush past his PA. He's furious that his PA let guests get to him, and Chloe identifies that she's a detective. Bobby says that he didn't steal jokes, and failures blame successful people like him for their failures. The trio get into the crowd and Sheila Vestal warms up the crowd. They begin taping the show, and everyone but Lucifer laughs as the puppets come in. Ella tells Chloe that the puppets are Bobby's imaginary friends.

Angry, Lucifer goes up on stage and says that he's stealing Bobby's show. He yanks the head off of a puppet and Bobby orders Lucifer off the set. Lucifer puts a puppet on pulls the trigger... and discovers that there's a gun inside. Bobby collapses with a bullet in his arm, and Lucifer blames the puppet.

Later, a medic bandages Bobby's wound. Bobby explains that they never used the puppet and he hid a gun in it. He admits that it's his gun, and Ella confirms that it's not the murder weapon. Bobby says that he didn't kill JD, but Lucifer asks what else he desires. After a moment, Bobby says that he wants out of the hell of telling stupid jokes with puppets. Sheila tells him that it's a dream gig, but Bobby says that it's a nightmare. He admits that JD was telling the truth about stealing his act. He couldn't quit because he'd lose all of the money, and he really likes the money. Bobby would also have lost the money if JD proved his accusations, and he hid the gun because he received death threats via anonymous email.

Amenadiel and Linda clean up the wings, and Linda figures that it must hurt. When Amenadiel tells her that they all have pain to hide, she asks him how he knows it's a test and he says that he has to dispose of the one thing that he wants back. Amenadiel is sure that God has a plan, and if it was easy then it wouldn't be much of a test.

At the station, Chloe and Lucifer go over the email threats. They stopped after JD posted his videos, and they figure that the killer went after JD when he realized JD was making fun of him. Chloe researched the original show and learned that it was much edgier when the main character suffered from a micropenis. When it became a family show, the micropenis was removed. Lucifer suggests that the killer is the victim, but Chloe tells him that it isn't how it works and takes the mails to Tech to trace the IP.

Lucifer arrives at the penthouse and realizes that Marcus is there. Marcus says that he's figured out what Lucifer really is. He says that it's about Sinnerman, and knows Lucifer isn't the crime boss. Marcus figures that Lucifer is an idiot, and he came there to warn him that he doesn't know what he's doing. He warns that Sinnerman isn't a myth, and he's dangerous, and he butted heads with him in Chicago. Sinnerman killed someone close to him, and Marcus doesn't want the same thing to happen to anyone else. Lucifer tells him that he's got it and walks away.

Linda and Amenadiel toss the wings in a dumpster and he sets them on fire. She wonders if they should say something, and Amenadiel irritably says that he doesn't know if it is a test. He figures that if Lucifer treats them like trash then that's how he'll treat them, and figures that Lucifer is hurting him even if he doesn't know it. Linda suggests that Lucifer might be testing him, and Amenadiel figures that Lucifer is his test.

The next day at the station, Lucifer tells Chloe what Marcus said. Before he can explain further, Dan reports that the emails were sent from a comedy club where at the same time that they have open mic night. Chloe figures that the killer will be there that night, and that they need someone on stage to provoke the killer.

That night at the club, the MC introduces Dan while Chloe and Lucifer watch from the audience. He begins his set and starts talking about micropenises. The audience starts booing, and Lucifer joins in. Chloe tells him to keep going, and Lucifer stands up and starts telling jokes. The audience laughs as Lucifer suggests that Dan has the micropenis. Lucifer starts throwing tomatoes at Dan until he runs off, and everyone applauds.

Afterward, Dan complains to Lucifer that he undermined the sting. Chloe says that she thought the killer would seek out a sympathetic voice, but Dan doesn't believe anyone would fall for it. A man, Erik, comes over and Lucifer sympathizes with him. They take him to the men's room and check him.

Later at the station, Erik man admits that he sent the emails. He toured with Bobby and figures that's when Bobby learned about it from one of the groupies. Then Erik found out that JD was writing the jokes, but forgave him because JD was a struggling comedian. JD told Erik that a warm-up comic wanted to meet with him about a gig. Chloe asks what the name of the warm-up comedian was, and Erik remembers that it was Sheila.

Chloe and Lucifer go back to the studio when her roommate tells them that she's there working on her new jokes. They search for Sheila, unaware that she's wearing one of the puppet costumes. Lucifer disappears in the darkness, and then surprises Chloe wearing a clown mask to startle her. Exasperated, she tells him to take it seriously or wait there. She continues searching on her own and hears something move in the darkness. Drawing her gun, Chloe finds Bobby laid out in a supply room. He says that he told Sheila that he was going to quit, and she freaked out about everything she did for him. Bobby tells Chloe that Sheila has a gun, and Chloe yells a warning to Lucifer.

Sheila moves along the catwalk, and Lucifer confronts him and asks why she did it. She admits that Bobby stole half of her routine and doesn't care, and says that it's what people do with the jokes. Meanwhile, Chloe unfastens a sandbag and lets it drop. When Sheila is distracted, Lucifer punches Sheila unconscious.

Back at the station, Marcus texts Lucifer to meet with him. He tells Lucifer that Sinnerman is in LA, and reveals that he brought Mike in so that Lucifer could interrogate him after he failed. Marcus tells Lucifer to keep it between them so that people won't get hurt... including Chloe and her daughter. Lucifer agrees and goes to interrogate Mike. Mike has no idea who Sinnerman is, and Lucifer asks why he desired Sam's death. The prisoner says that he didn't want his girl to sleep with Sam anymore, and Lucifer flies into a rage when Mike says that he knows nothing about Sinnerman. He finally realizes that Mike is telling the truth.

Later, Lucifer tells Linda what happened. He admits that his angel wings grew back, and Linda tells him that he can't keep cutting them off. Lucifer agrees, and Linda suggests that he accept them for now. She says that traumatic experiences only defend them if they let them, and Lucifer figures that it's about how he uses the wings. Lucifer figures that he should just ignore the entire situation and get back into the game of handing out favors. He goes to Lux and lines up people to grant favors.
