Nora speeds to Eobard's cell and says that something is wrong and another Cicada showed up and took Orlin and his dagger. Eobard tells her that he knows, and admits that he has no idea who the new Cicada is. When Nora points out that Eobard said that curing Orlin would change the timeline, Eobard admits that he was wrong and that he can't help her anymore. he tells Nora that it's too late as a timer on the wall counts down from twelve hours, and advises Nora to tell Barry everything.
The Present
Orlin wakes up in his bed in the cabin, and the adult Grace tells him that lung is healing and she'll take care of him like he took care of her. She shows Orlin a doll that he gave her as a child, and Orlin realizes that she's his niece Grace. Grace explains that eventually her younger self comes out of her coma and becomes her, and she came back to help him. Orlin wonders where they are, and Grace assures him that there no will find him. She clutches briefly at the dark matter wound on her head, and says that she has something important to do and when she comes back they'll figure out how to get his powers back.
Barry and Joe talk to Nurse Shelley at the hospital, but she doesn't know anything about Ambres. Cecile is watching with Nora and telepathically confirms that Shelley is telling the truth. Joe and Cecile head back to the station to check the files, and Nora tells Barry that she doesn't know what to do. He assures her that they'll figure something out.
At STAR Labs, Sherloque deciphers Nora's journal but she hasn't written down who she's working with. Cisco calls Sherloque to the Cortex to help clean. Iris and Ralph join Cisco and the others and say that they haven't figured out anything. Caitlin is at the Tannhauster site, and an alert goes off that someone has stolen something from the Starchives vault where the team stores everything Flash related.
Cisco and Sherloque breach outside while Ralph and Iris check the vault. Sherloque and Search for the missing item--Eobard's time sphere--and Iris says that there's one in the vault as well.
Barry and Nora arrive and Cisco cues up Operation Shazam. Iris etches a scratch into their Time Sphere and it appears on the one in the woods. They realize that it's the same time sphere but the one in the woods is from the future, meaning Cicada is there from the future as well.
At the CCPD, Cicada II cuts in through a wall and them enters. The officer on guard takes cover, and then jumps out and tells Cicada to freeze. She kills the guard with one of her daggers, takes a file, and leaves.
The next day, Barry, Joe, Cecile, and Nora check out the crime scene. They confirm that Cicada took one of the cold case files but they don't know which one. Joe clears the room and Barry tells Joe about the time sphere and how Cicada used it. He then searches the room at superspeed and finds one file missing from 2017. Joe goes to do some digging and Cecile goes with him.
At Jitters, Cisco meets with Kamilla and they officially declare their relationship on social media. Ralph joins them and asks when Kamilla is going to join the group. Kamilla says that she has to go for a photography gig and Ralph tells Cisco that Barry wants to talk to him. Cisco walks Kamilla out.
At STAR Labs, Sherloque examines the plans for the time sphere when Iris comes in. She asks if he's been working on his lead for the last several weeks, and Sherloque sees something in the plans and abruptly leaves. Iris looks at the plans and sees the words "The timeline is malleable" written on them.
Barry tells Cisco and Nora that according to the missing file, a meta attack occurred at an ATM two years ago and two people died. Cisco vibes the concrete around the replacement ATM and sees a woman use the ATM. The next people who use it scream, and Grace is in a nearby car screaming. Cisco tells Barry and Nora that the two victims were Grace's parents. They realize that the new Cicada is Grace from the future.
The adult Grace returns to the cabin and breaks things in a fit of fury. She shows Orlin the file and says that the police did nothing and left Flash to deal with it. There is debris from the explosion, and Grace realizes that it's dark matter residue that they can track. She uses a futuristic device to locate the woman, and tells Orlin that the meta "plague" spreads across the world. With Orlin's help, she can kill every last meta-human starting with the woman who killed her parents.
Nora and Barry meet Joe at a party center and tell him that Vickie Bolen was the woman who used the pin number, and she's there with her family. They find Grace's husband John, and Vickie comes over and asks what's going on. The trio explains that a meta-human might have been involved with the ATM explosion, and Vicki sends John to find their daughter April and her teammates. Nora tells her that she hyperaccelerated the molecules in the ATM, and Vickie panicked and ran. She doesn't think anyone was hurt, and they explain that a killer is targeting her and want to put her in federal protection. Vickie explains that no one knows about her powers, and Barry says that they have a right to know because they're her family. Angry, Vickie says that he has no right to intervene and tells them to leave. Once Vickie walks away, Joe says that she's not safe and is staying put.
Ralph texts Cisco to come to his office and shows Cisco that Kamilla is showing her photos to Iris to get a job with her blog. Cisco drags Ralph off, and Ralph says that he thought Kamilla could take photos for Iris and hang around STAR Labs, and might get bitten by a radioactive spider. Angry, Cisco says that he didn't ask Ralph to do it and says that it's not Ralph's job to get Kamilla on the team. Iris and Kamilla come out, and Iris says that Kamilla is shooting photos for a parade weekend. Cisco pretends to be thrilled and suggests that they go celebrate with a drink. As he leaves with Kamilla, Cisco glares at Ralph.
Sherloque checks the Starchives and tries to figure out what kind of man Eobard is. He triggers a player on Eobard's wheelchair that he used when pretending to be Harrison, and finds a flash drive.
Joe tells Nora and Barry that he kept certain things from the public to not panic them. When Joe leaves to take a text from Cecile, Nora tells Barry that he's wrong about advising Vickie to tell her family. Barry says that keeping secrets from people would protect them, but it just robs people from making their own decisions. Nora clutches at her head in pain and gets a mental vision of Cicada outside the party center. She tells Barry that she must be connected to Grace's mind.
Flash and XS speed in and the kids assume that they're cosplayers. While Flash leads the kids off to play soccer and asks Joe to help him, while Nora tells Vickie that Cicada is coming. Cicada arrives and knocks them both down, and XS tells Cicada that it was an accident and Vickie is innocent. The villain doesn't believe them and blasts them aside, and Vickie superaccelerates a soccer ball and throws it at Cicada. The explosion knocks her back and stuns her daughter, and Flash and XS get them out. Cicada recovers and says that she'll find them.
The team take Vickie's daughter Alice to a hospital, and the team look at the comatose Grace. Barry says that they'd need Grace's consent to give her the cure, and her condition is too fragile in any case. Cecile scans Grace's mind and realizes that the girl is filled with hate. Nora comes over and says that Alice is back from the OR and is okay, but her parents aren't.
The team goes to Alice's room, and John orders Vickie out saying that she's a human time bomb. Alice is scared of her mother, and Joe leads John outside. The girl flinches away from her mother and Vickie leaves. Barry tells Nora that they did the right thing by keeping the family safe, but Nora tells her father that it feels like they made things worse.
Ralph visits Cisco in his workshop and admits that he shouldn't have interfered with Kamilla. Cisco says that the problem is that he's Vibe, and Kamilla is unaware of anything involving Team Flash. He explains that they have a good thing and he feels like he's a normal dude with her. Ralph says that it's amazing and promises that he will respect that, but asks how long Cisco thinks he can keep his two words separate. He warns that if Cisco keeps Kamilla out of his world then he'll be turning off a part of himself. Ralph leaves and Cisco considers what he's said.
Grace returns to the cabin and says that she didn't get Vickie, and Orlin suggests that might be a good thing. He tells her that he's read the file and there was no money taken from the crime scene, and figures that what Vickie did was an accident. Grace asks why he sounds like the others. When he says that they should get her to Ambres, Grace tells him that she killed Ambres. Ambres took the power from him, and Orlin tells his niece that he voluntarily took the cure and wanted Grace to take it as well. He insists that he just wanted her to be happy and loves her. Grace says that she knows what she has to do, shoves Orlin to the floor, and leaves.
Sherloque goes to the time vault and activates Gideon, and plays the flash drive. It's a video log of Eobard who says that he's learned of a way to tap into the universe's source code so his knowledge remains unchanged when the timeline changes. Sherloque matches Eobard's handwriting in the video log to that in the journal and confirms that it's a match.
Nora goes to Alice's room and finds Vickie telling her why she didn't explain about her powers. Barry joins Mora as Vickie asks Alice to be tough for her, and tells Nora that the Bolens would figure it out. Nora starts to tell Grace the truth, but Cecile yells and says that the anger in Grace's mind is getting stronger. Cicada's dagger flies in through the window, and Barry speeds down the hallway in front of it, puts on his costume, and gets Vickie down as the dagger just misses her.
Cicada calls f5rom outside, holding John. She tells Vickie to surrender or John dies, and Cecile warns that Cicada will kill anyone who gets in her way, meta or not. XS speeds Vickie away as Cicada throws the dagger at XS and it speeds after her.
Flash confronts Cicada and says that they can help her using the cure. Cicada tells him that there's only one cure: death, and blasts Flash.
XS warns the team that she can't keep up her speed. They direct her to an ally and Vibe and Elongated Man arrive and breach XS and Vickie to STAR Labs. The dagger embeds itself in the nearby wall, and when the heroes try to breach to the hospital, Cicada seals the gate with her powers.
As Orlin prepares to kill Flash, Orlin arrives and tells Cicada to stop because it isn't the way to make the world a better place. He admits that he was wrong and it was wrong to make Grace feel the same way, but she doesn't have to hold onto the anger. Cicada hesitates and Orlin says that her parents' death was an accident. She says that he's right, summons the blade to him, and it takes Orlin in the back. Cicada tells him that it's too late for him, pulls out her dagger, and flies away. Flash goes to Orlin, who asks him to save Grace with his dying breath.
Later at STAR Labs, the team realize that Grace is far more dangerous than Orlin. Caitlin has confirmed that Cicada can manipulate dark matter, including the dark matter in them. Grace and Nora are psychically connected because of the time Nora spent in Grace's mind. Vickie and her family are in federal protection. Ralph suggests that they get a drink and Cisco says that he's not bringing Kamilla.
Nora hesitates and Cecile telepathically realizes that she wants to tell them something. Sherloque figures that she wants to tell them her secret but doesn't know where to start. He explains that Nora initially tried not to alter history but then destroyed the satellite. Sherloque has deduced that Eobard instructed Nora to do what she has done to change the timeline to his benefit. The others realize that it's all true, and Barry takes her to the pipeline and locks her in a cell, rendering her superspeed useless. Nora says that she's sorry she lied to him, and Barry says that he is as well and walks away.
