Nurse Sal Vine is the lynchpin of the village and a big support to everyone, but she cannot bring herself to join the guild. However, when tragedy strikes, it is enough to change her mind.

During the walk, the Vicar tries to oversee proceedings on the Moor, but his ceremonial outfit keeps getting in the way. Sal and Tip discover that Eileen is adopted.

The Ladies Guild is helping to dress the church ready for Harvest Festival, much to the despair of the grumpy vicar, who complains about the display being just tins and packets. So Rosiegoes to the allotment to find some 'fresh' for the display. She discovers instead a potato with Jesus's face on it. The vicar doesn't agree that the potato could be a calling from God, as why would God call someone like Rosie?
