Season 31 - Episode Guide

The 30th anniversary season of This Old House opens with thed crew beginning an addition to a 1915 Dutch Colonial Revival that includes a new kitchen, home office and family room.  The architect presents his plan, while Tom Silva and Norm Abram arrive to begin the demolition.

Norm Abram and Tom Silva remove the vinyl siding from the house's exterior.  Kevin O'Connor travels to Raleigh, North Carolina.  Roger Cook breaks up the old porch slab.

The homeowners decide to stay in the house during construction; Richard Trethewey gets to work in the basement with a reciprocationg saw and a sledgehammer; Tommy extends the old windowsills with wood and epxoy; a temporary kitchen; Kevin O'Connor gets bad news from the electrician; the concrete truck arrives.

Kevin O'Connor and Tom Silva reinforce and level the kitchen ceiling.  Kevin visits Long Island, New York, to learn about the Dutch Colonial Revival style.  Norm Abram frames the first floor platform.

Tom Silva builds the gable-end wall.  The master electrician sets up temporary power.  Richard Trethewey shows Kevin the new lines to the old radiators.  Tom walks Kevin through the roof framing.

Roger Cook helps prune hemlock trees.  The master electrician installs a bath fan.  Kevin O'Connor revisits a green building project.  Tom Silva shows Kevin how he's roofing the new addition.

Roger Cook acquires some plants.  The painting contractor shows how to paint a ceiling.  Kevin O'Connor meets with a countertop fabricator.  Kevin helps Tom Silva construct bookshelves for the living room.

Kevin O'Connor inspects the kitchen.  Roger Cook goes shopping.  The countertop fabricator installs a butcher block.  Norm Abram and Tom Silva work with oak.  The tile contractor installs the backsplash.

In the final show from Newton Centre, all hands are on deck.  Lead by Tom Silva, the modest project (with a modest budget) tightened up the old house while adding on living space for the family.

For the season's second project, the crew partners with the City of Boston and non-profit Nuestra Comunidad to take a foreclosed house and turn it into affordable housing in Roxbury, Massachusetts.

Norm Abram travels to Dover, N.H.  A stone specialist installs a marble fireplace.  A flooring contractor installs a birch floor.  The interior designer explains her kitchen designs.

Roger Cook works on the front yard.  Norm Abram looks at the second unit.  The homeowner learns to maintain her new countertops.  Richard Trethewey installs a new water heater.

With one week left, Kevin O'Connor learns to install tiles for the kitchen backsplash.  Kevin visits our previous non-profit development.  Tom Silva helps install the new stairs.

The job nears completion thanks to the dedication of general contractor David Lopes.  The team gathers for the wrap party and all agree that it was a successful partnership.
