Shattering Conclusions

In Street Genius, host Tim Shaw takes us on a journey to explore the incredible truth of why things do what they do. In this episode, Tim explores the explosive qualities of hair products, starter fluid and the oxygen we breathe. Tim's first stop is a barbecue restaurant where he demonstrates what happens when liquid oxygen meets flaming hot coals. Then Tim attempts to get something out of nothing. With the help of a vacuum pump, we see what happens when the air is sucked out of a bottle. Next, Tim enlists the help of four high-rise window cleaners. Their role is simple - stand on a pane of toughened glass while Tim tries to break it. Even this glass can't resist the impact of Tim's experiments, in this shattering episode of Street Genius.

Falling, Floating, Feasting

Episode: 2x02 | Airdate: Mar 30, 2015

Falling, Floating, Feasting

In this episode of Street Genius, host Tim Shaw hits the Las Vegas streets and shines the spotlight on some incredible science as he tests the sticking power of glue, the kicking power of a rocket boot and the mystifying properties of dry ice. But first, it's man versus hot dog. Find out who can eat the most hot dogs against the clock and how. Later Tim takes time out at a popular restaurant to demonstrate how simple soap bubbles can be a fascinating source of science. Finally, Tim heads to a football stadium to find out if a human goal-kicker can kick farther than the competition of three machine-based alternatives - a pneumatic boot, an elastic-powered boot and even a rocket boot.

Master Blaster

Master Blaster

Host Tim Shaw takes us into the world of street science as he demonstrates the incredible truths about the world around us. On a tour of Las Vegas, Tim sets off fire extinguisher rockets and finds out what happens when a person gets vacuum-packed. Next, Tim demonstrates how to squeeze a boiled egg into a narrow-necked bottle without touching it - then invites visitors to try and remove the same boiled egg completely intact. Tim also introduces us to an extraordinary liquid that we take completely for granted, before he travels out of town to set off a truly massive, earth-shattering blast.

Shooters, Showers, & Shockwaves

Episode: 2x04 | Airdate: Apr 6, 2015

Shooters, Showers, & Shockwaves

In this episode, host Tim Shaw investigates why things do what they do. First, Tim heads to a deserted parking lot with a group of baseball players. They are tasked with firing baseballs at targets from a pitching machine mounted on the back of Tim's jeep - which will be speeding past the targets at 35 mph. Then Tim shows us what will happen to two party balloons in a moving van - one filled with helium tethered to the floor and one filled with air, tethered to the roof. Before the end of the episode, Tim will also attempt to blow up diaper bags and fill a car tire to its bursting point.

Pressure Cooker

Episode: 2x05 | Airdate: Apr 13, 2015

Pressure Cooker

Street Genius host Tim Shaw demonstrates the incredible truth about the world around us in a series of mind-blowing experiments. The first stop on our journey of discovery is an improvised firing range on the fringes of the desert outside Las Vegas, where Tim shows us what item can withstand the impact of a high-tension crossbow bolt. Will it be a row of phone books, soda bottles, watermelons or metal baking trays? Next, Tim uses some modified Rollerblades to see how additional wheels affect speed. Then find out how whiskey and water interact in a gravity-defying way, and discover how to make lemons taste astonishingly sweet. Finally, Tim takes us back into the desert to find out what will happen to a sealed water heater if it's allowed to heat up without venting - and the ear-splitting outcome is astonishing.

Crash & Burn

Episode: 2x06 | Airdate: Apr 13, 2015

Crash & Burn

The guru of street science, Tim Shaw, takes us on an incendiary Las Vegas road trip to find out why things do what they do. For his first experiment, Tim shows us what happens when a truck is driven at just 35 miles an hour beneath a set of falling cinder blocks. Next, Tim demonstrates how water balloons can stop bullets. Then he uses a $25,000 hovercraft to showcase the astonishing power of hurricane-force winds, and shows Vegas passersby what happens when two sports balls are dropped together. Finally, Tim takes a detour into the desert to test the explosive potential of four cars, each with a different amount of gas in its tank - and only one of them produces a massive gas-fueled explosion. But the question is - which one? Stand by for an exhilarating ride in this edition of his street science roadshow.

Positively Shocking

Episode: 2x07 | Airdate: Apr 27, 2015

Positively Shocking

Witness destructive forces with Street Genius host Tim Shaw, starting with man-made lightning. Guess what will happen to four gas-filled dummies in different attire when lightning strikes each one. Then, watch as Tim tries to cook an egg on a sheet of newspaper placed over an open flame. Next, find out the crushing capabilities of a professional food blender, and then how a set of pantyhose can act as a lid on a jar of water. Next, he heads to the Heart Attack Grill - a place that revels in its reputation for rich, fatty foods - and shows diners what happens in their stomachs when they take antacids. At a parkour course, Tim finds out how fast a golf ball needs to fly out of an air-cannon to hit a watermelon as it's dropped to the ground. Then, watch as a volunteer tries to suck up juice through long straws from heights of up to 20 feet. Finally, Tim takes us to the desert to demonstrate what happens when thermite is placed on blocks of ice and ignited.
