Then, troopers investigate domestic calls in Bethels neighborhoods and patrol the highway in the Mat-Su Valley. Their mission: to remove a threatening squatter who refuses to leave private property. Across the state, Wildlife Trooper Doug Massie gets a call about an illegal kill. After hours of searching, he finds the entire moose, but it's too late to salvage any of the meat.

When troopers respond to a call regarding a discharged gun in the Mat-Su Valley, they discover a large stash of weapons hidden inside a boat. There is a good chance that the suspect is still armed and dangerous as officers venture out into the dark woods to search for him. Later, troopers patrol villages near Juneau, handle the fall moose hunt in the Denali wilderness, and search the southeast Alaskan ocean floor for a stolen firearm.

In the season five kick-off, we'll watch Troopers pursue suspects as spring beckons and the world's foremost sled race, the Iditarod, heats up. Patrolling the wilderness of the last frontier keeps the Troopers on their toes as people gather in March in Nome for one of the toughest races on Earth. Suspicious behavior at a gas station leads Troopers into a showdown with a suspect who locks himself in a bathroom in what looks like a last-ditch attempt to destroy his drugs.

In the Mat-Su Valley, a man recently escaped from a mental health facility wanders the streets with rocks in his pockets and takes aim at law enforcement. While photo opportunities with cute cubs are abundant, Troopers must monitor the action to prevent potential run-ins with protective mama bears. In Seward, Trooper Joe Miller races through the woods to catch a man reported to be chasing campers with a knife. In the Mat-Su Valley, a wanted criminal leads Troopers Lopez and Taylor to a suspicious shed.

In the Alaskan flats, an abandoned campsite smells suspicious to Troopers Mulvaney and Leigh, who search the surrounding woods for a possible deceased body. Elsewhere, an unruly driver turns onto a side road and Trooper Miller has a gut feeling that something isn't right. And in Girdwood, Trooper Miller helps homeowners ward off a hungry bear that has taken up residence in a garage. We'll also follow a helicopter rescue of roll-over crash victims, the search for a stranded boat and its passengers, and the hunt for a reckless RV driver, who is reportedly having trouble staying on the road.

The roads are teeming with trouble and the Troopers must dodge wintry conditions to catch their targets/suspects. In Butte, an intoxicated man harasses Troopers and leads them to a surprising discovery: a 9 mm pistol on the couch. An altercation involving alcohol at a Fairbanks hotel leads to arrests. And a dispute between neighbors involving guns on the outskirts of town draws Troopers into the cross fire. Finally, when brown bears take over a remote village dump, Sgt. Dobson must mediate.

As the Alaskan summer heats up, so does the crime. In the remote area surrounding Glennallen, Troopers search for a family of missing moose hunters. Because the terrain is expansive and difficult to cross on foot, Trooper Dahl takes to the skies in his floatplane. It's not long before he spots the stranded family's vehicle trapped in a creek below. In Seward, the Fourth of July is creating an excuse for reckless behavior.

The hunt for illegal bootleggers hiding in the villages near Kotzebue becomes complicated when the sighting of a big brown bear threatens the safety of the officers. Later, troopers assist an aggressive man under the influence of some type of drug after receiving a call about his incoherent behavior.

The troopers begin their shift in a dangerous area of the Mat-Su Valley where heavy drug use and drug trafficking are common. After a couple hostile traffic stops and a meth bust, the troopers set up animal decoys to catch illegal road hunters as they attempt to kill helpless fowl. Later, the troopers respond to reports of alcohol-related incidents, including a drunken bicyclist claiming he was hit by a car on the highway.
