In just two days, the backyard is torn down and built back up with a giant antique cobble driveway patio that leads to a revived screened in porch complete with indestructible screens and one giant remote control screen the opens up into the backyard. Ahmed and crew take the best parts of the homeowners' "river in progress" and transform it into a giant waterfall spilling into a running-water river bed winding around the yard and emptying into a new fire feature. Next, efforts are turned toward rehab'ing an existing patio by adding flagstone to increase the "hang out" space. The extra space creates a home for their beloved grill as part of a new outdoor kitchen featuring chunky leathered granite counters.

The hand huning or planing of the wood is an old world style of decorating the structure in a one of a kind fashion. These homeowners are huge music lovers and former band members, so Chris and his team incorporated into their backyard a unique vinyl record bar countertop with beer dispenser, stained the existing concrete and opened up their patio by removing some of their dilapidated overhang cover. They installed concrete stepping-stones into the new sod, which leads you to a floating redwood deck and pergola. Off to the side they created a unique water and fire feature all in one. And finally, they planted colorful low maintenance plants throughout the yard and a large specimen maple tree to admire.

Chris finds Sacramento homeowners who are desperate to overhaul their terribly overgrown messy back yard. They want a space with a Hawaiian vibe where they can cook and dine among tropical foliage. Chris steps up and delivers a space that includes a new deck with boardwalk leading out to a step up concrete patio with a beautiful hanging rock water feature. In addition, Chris adds a large outdoor kitchen with grill and prep space that is all faced with bamboo. Lush flowers are added to complete the Hawaiian entertaining space.

A step up to the winner's circle paver patio reveals a concrete "tire" fire pit, race car seating, water fall and curved arbor. Inspired by Austin's eclectic and funky scene, Chris designs an outdoor room with a lounge area with low bench seating and a covered pergola, grass for the couple's dog and an outdoor bar faced in wood and metal. He also adds a performing stage with a colorful plexiglass screen backdrop, a shell keg water feature and fence for privacy. Finally, for some fun, Chris adds a graffiti inspired dart board and a large building block game.

Amanda and Tyler have a boring backyard. They'd like a place to eat and entertain so Chris agrees to help them with their vision. The existing covered deck is enhanced by updating the existing railing. A surround is built for Tyler's smoker so that it becomes his outdoor kitchen with a granite countertop prep area. The side stairs which were awkward are replaced with corner stairs that provide more room as well as drop down to a huge new concrete patio complete with a brick fire pit. A large metal water feature becomes the focal point of the yard. Wood and metal privacy screens are built to hide the back neighbor's house. Horse troughs are repurposed into raised planter beds. And finally, the master bedroom's landing is enlarged and a curved brick seat wall is added to make the space more cohesive. Large trees and colorful landscaping is added, along with new sod.

Sonora persuades Chris to come see her backyard in her brand new house -- a big empty space with one huge redwood tree in the middle. Using that for inspiration, Chris comes up with a mountain retreat design that starts with covering up her existing concrete pad with natural stone and building a wood privacy screen to block out her neighbor's huge RV. He adds a large ledgestone water feature as well as a big wooden deck topped with a custom-made dining table. He uses boulders to define a fire pit area and adds large redwood trees, cedars and ferns. Finally, he turns a ski lift chair into a comfy swing and surrounds it with lush landscaping.

Wendy and Demond have a plain backyard. They'd like an outdoor space to cook and chill in so Chris comes to their aide. The existing sod and old brick pathway is removed and replaced with a new flagstone pathway. A new concrete patio is poured and a beautiful redwood pergola is built onto it with some reclaimed lumber and shutters as the backdrop. A custom outdoor kitchen is constructed with a special countertop and wood siding base. A beautiful water feature surrounded by herbs and veggies becomes a functional part of the yard. Masonry and wood benches provide an entertainment spot around the metal fire feature. Pedro and Alicia purchased their Eichler home and have spent time redoing the inside but have neglected the outside. It's a messy space with no flow and no shade. The couple begged Chris to help them transform it into a midcentury modern entertaining space. Chris starts with demoing the existing cracked concrete pad and replacing it with concrete squares in a grid pattern. Pedro is a chef so Chris adds a large 'L' shape kitchen and bar island faced in metal mesh and an herb garden. For Alicia, he includes a large metal shade structure over a dining space. The rickety block wall is replaced with a cement and glass block water wall to become the yard's focal point.

He adds artificial turf, a boulder water feature and stone fireplace. He builds a custom reclaimed wood dining table for Dana and a slatted wood and boulder backless bench so Robert can play his guitar.
