The traditional Christmas Eve celebration of Midnight Mass comes live from St Anne's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Leeds. The Mass is introduced by Monsignor Philip Moger, Cathedral Dean, while the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt. Rev. Marcus Stock, is the principal celebrant and will also preach.

Leeds Cathedral Choir, led by Director of Music Benjamin Saunders, sing Haydn's joyful Saint Nicholas Mass and Leeds Trinity Cathedral Boys' and Girls' Choirs sing the beautiful German carol Still, Still, Still. The congregation, made up of local residents and Christmas visitors, join in well-loved carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, Unto Us Is Born A Son and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, accompanied by Cathedral organist David Pipe.

The traditional Christmas Eve celebration of Midnight Mass, live from Buckfast Abbey in Devon. The celebrant and preacher is the abbot of Buckfast, the Rev David Charlesworth OSB, and well-loved carols include Adeste Fideles, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The Abbey Choir sing Charpentier's joyful Christmas mass, Messe de Minuit, under the direction of Philip Arkwright and the organist is Matthew Searles.

The celebrant and preacher is the Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Bernard Longley. Music includes popular carols O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The cathedral choir sings Richard Causton's haunting Cradle Song and the Christmas motet Tui sunt caeli by Lassus.

Live from Blackburn Cathedral, the traditional celebration of the first Mass of Christmas and the Blessing of the Crib. The music is led by Blackburn Cathedral Chorus, with traditional favourites such as Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day and On Christmas Night All Christians Sing, as well as a new arrangement of a traditional Ukrainian carol, Deepest Wonder, set to a Ukrainian folk tune. The eucharist setting is taken from French composer Louis Vierne's dramatic Messe Solennelle.

The choir will be joined by a congregation from Blackburn's diverse community, which, along with nearby Darwen, forms one of Lancashire's largest population centres. Favourite congregational carols include Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O Come All Ye Faithful and Of the Father's Love Begotten.

Set in the heart of Blackburn's town centre, the modern gothic splendour of the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary the Virgin with St Paul stands on a site that has been used for Christian worship for over 1,300 years.

The dean of Blackburn, the Most Rev Peter Howell-Jones, will preside and introduce the service, while the preacher is the bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev Philip North. The director of music is John Robinson.
