Would it be possible to tie in the show default images to each user's profile? This would allow each user to pick and choose which poster appears on a title's main page if they feel like spending a lot of time customizing their favorite shows. As a bonus, this would also help with third party apps that use your site's data for tracking tv shows. For example, Hobi pulls in each show's default poster without the option to select others.
