Useful tools for editors

puffosul wrote 2 years ago: 3

Hi, I just wanted to share the tools I found and use that make editing easier for me.
Feel free to add your tools that make your editing experience easier, as well. :D

I use Firefox and Chrome for editing and found some useful tools for both:

For Firefox: (addons)
1. Find & Replace for Text Editing (looks like this https://i.ibb.co/RcGLPLB/find.png )
- helps replacing a text (including edit boxes)
I use it to replace resolutions when using the bulk tool to add pics to multiple episodes

2. Urban Free VPN proxy Unblocker - Best VPN (looks like this https://i.ibb.co/4KynvMt/urban.png )
- helps open official show links from US / UK / AUS when they're geolocked
I use it for sites like paramountplus.com, tlc.com, foodnetwork.com etc. With just one click, you're in another country. (Does not affect your main connection or other browsers - very useful because I usually have Opera on, with a sports stream on and the US VPN I used before affected everything)

For Chrome: (extensions)
1. Find & Replace for Text Editing (same from Firefox, also available for Chrome)

2. Screenshot YouTube (looks like this https://i.ibb.co/2kBV8kT/ss.png )
- saves a screenshot of a YouTube Video (it uses the resolution the vid is set to play - 1 click and a screenshot is saved on the desktop)
Useful for episode caps for the shows that use YouTube for broadcast or for caps of trailers for editing purposes. (extracting show logos, make backgrounds etc.)

Be careful with Find & Replace for Text Editing addon. It was bought from the previous developer and the code is no longer open source. With the access it has it can be very dangerous.

But in general great suggestions.
