Bráulio Mantovani

Bráulio Mantovani is a Brazilian screenwriter and assistant director, author of the screenplay for the acclaimed film City of God, directed by Fernando Meirelles. With a degree in Portuguese Language and Literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and a post-graduate degree in Screenwriting from the Autonomous University of Madrid, he began his career in theater groups, starting to write screenplays professionally in 1987. That year, he wrote with Maria Bacellar , Carlota/Lovingness. In the early 1990s, he worked as a camera assistant and later assistant director for the Polish director Zbig Rybczynski, in New York, working on the telefilms The Orchestra (1990), Manhattan (1991) and Washington (1991).
