Spoilers: Why Mr. Robot’s Master Slave Episode is its Best One Yet

mr-robot-season-2-after-show.jpg?w=620&hFor those of you, who may not already know, I absolutely love Mr. Robot. The first season of it was spectacular and this season began on a lesser note.

Many critics were questioning where this season was going, the episodes themselves were quite long, the first two at least, and they seemed to meander a bit. If you have not watched this show, then please discontinue reading any further for there will be major spoilers. Elliot was fighting for control with his father and going through the motions of someone who may be institutionalized. It was interesting and I never gave up on it but I could see why. It didn’t seem to have a purpose especially when compared to the first season where we were promised a hack and a hack was delivered.

But then episode 3 titled 'eps2.3_logic-b0mb.hc' premiered with an ending that left me breathless and yearning for the next episode.

And this is something that I've come to realize about Sam Esmail, creator of Mr. Robot, is that I can count on him. He knows how he wants this story to play out and puts all the pieces into place to do exactly that. With the beating that Elliot receives and the shooting that occurs of which Dominique, played by Grace Gummer, is in the midst of, the viewers, myself included, are sucked back in.

And the next episode begins with a redesigned logo, a new title sequence, and an entirely different show practically. Like Full House but with ultra violence that is uncomfortable to watch. There is an eerie laugh track as well that made my skin crawl. And there’s a hack! An aspect of this show that is done with perfection.

And the ending. That sweet sweet ending that should garner Christian Slater some critical praise. It was the exact opposite of the beginning as truly felt for these two characters. And I didn’t care where we were going or what this episode had to say. I just wanted to be there in the moment with these two characters.

And finally, shout out to B.D.Wong who is killing it in every episode he is in. He is fantastic in this show as White Rose and he was spectacular in Logic Bomb. I honestly look forward to whatever he does next.

This show could run for another three or four season and even after it's over and done we may never be completely sure what really happened.

I love it!

I enjoy this show but I was. In a accident and need to use closed caption. I am in New York State and my IPS is Time Warner. I have been on the phone for hours telling them that I get closed caption on USA networks with the exception of Mr. Robot and The "Suits" TV program. Does anyone have a suggestion. When I call tv technical service, I reach someone in the Philipines and they can not. Understand my "American Accent".

I love this show too! Absoult astonishing show and I'm really happy that this season has more episodes!

Aye, great episode. A bit like with the first season of The Leftovers you have to wait for it to unfold, as it's not always entirely fitting for a story to be cut into pieces like season episodes.

I've been watching "Mr. Robot" because "Colony" won't reappear until 2017! Plus, SyFy's "Killjoys" and "Dark Matter" are starting to telegraph their next plot point. I began wondering what the series was about, and I'm still wondering whatinhellisgoingon. After each episode, I find that I understand about half of what's going on, and get the feeling that I'm the victim of a generation gap joke. The second season opener was...bizarre, but somewhat clear "in it's unclarity." I haven't quite given up on this USA network show...yet, but it's a pleasant diversion from the Heavy Moral Issues raised by FX Networks' "Tyrant," The last episode "Mr. Robot" episode finally pulled the curtain aside, "Shutter Island" style, letting us know why Elliot's world was so predictable and monotonous. I can hardly wait for "Fargo" to surface later this year, where the stakes are clear, the characters' motives are murky, and the landscape is off-white.
