New Comedy - Porters

Starting on the Dave channel Wednesday 20th, Porters is a brand new 3 part comedy series that follows the working lives of the people that work in the part of St. Etheldreda's hospital the public never gets to see - an underground community of hospital workers making the world above them run like clockwork(ish).

The series starts with Simon Porter (Edward Easton) who dreams of passing his medical exam and becoming a doctor, but he is starting at the bottom, and becoming the best porter the NHS has ever seen. Aiding Simon on his journey are Karma-loving, German-born Tillman (Rutger Hauer), self-styled "Queen of the Porters" Frankie (Susan Wokoma) and naïve nurse Lucy (Claudia Jessie) who Simon falls hopelessly in love with. Also roaming the hospital corridors is battle-hardened but exhausted Dr Kelly (Jo Joyner), hypochondriac patient Mark (Mathew Horne), highly mischievous transplant surgeon Mr Pradeep (Sanjeev Bhaskar), and ruthless NHS manager Jane Bison (Tanya Franks).

So, what's so special about this series compared to others? Actually, not a lot. It definitely is not Scrubs, but it does have some very funny scenes and Simon does daydream a lot. That's the only similarities between them. Having watched all 3 episodes, the star of the series is absolutely Tillman, in my opinion. Also, look out for a very funny guest appearance by Kelsey Grammer in the first episode. It's a bit quirky and it absolutely will not appeal to everyone, but it is worth a look at if you've got just 30 minutes to spare and watch the first episode.

Here's a trailer for the series which airs Wednesday nights on the Dave channel at 10pm.

Please, do share your thoughts and views, below. I look forward to reading them.
