There are some things money can't buy, but Fender's not one of them. Always looking for a quick buck, Fender's early life took him from Yankee youth to mercenary Confederate soldier. That's how he added "captain" to his name. Likely lured west by the Gold Rush, Fender missed striking it rich. Thus he finds himself in the employ of Big Rump Kate, Madam of Cariboo, Idaho's whorehouse. His assignment: Transport seven "Celestial" girls from San Francisco to Cariboo, where they'll add to Kate's payroll. But, his weakness for drinking and cheating make him a truly bad choice for the mission.
