When we meet Tania she is something of an enigma. She's of Maori descent but speaks with an Australian accent. She is someone our hero, Mike, knows from the past but wants to keep a secret.
Tania is streetwise and guarded but not at the expense of her natural intelligence.
Tania likes Mike. He's been kind to her and on one hand, even though she just wants to be left alone, she takes comfort in the fact that he's keeping an eye out for her.
