A troubled Vietnam veteran sits perched on railing in Los Angeles high rise building, pursued by Viet Cong ghosts and seeing no escape but a quick trip to the pavement, Officials of every kind attempt to connect, but fail to dissuade the African American man. Muhammed Ali strolls onto the scene, having heard of the drama over electronic media. He offers his help, speaks with the ex-soldier, and talks him off the building. This leads to a Medal of Freedom award some years later, for his selfless act of concern. In 15th Century France, a series of murders rocks an otherwise peaceful village. Each victim has been mauled to death, and left nude, their clothes folded neatly beside them. This goes on for years, until a farmer steps forward to deal with the monster, armed with clergy-blessed Silver musket balls. After several nights, the farmer returns, dragging the corpse of a huge wolf, which, when cut open, reveals it has consumed human flesh. The savior is hailed as a hero across France for killing the scourge of the village. Modern scrutiny of this tale suggests that this was a case of "trained wolf+armed gunman" pulling the wool over everybody's eyes. In post-Civil-War New York City, a woman dares to run for President of the United States, using her scandal sheet monthly as a springboard to women's suffrage. Having accused a clergyman of adultery, she creates enough of a splash to threaten former General Ulysses S. Grant's run for the Presidency. The clergyman, operating behind the scenes, had her arrested just before election day. Languishing in prison, the candidate is unable to campaign or defend herself against accusations of Libel. The legal case against her is dismissed, but with her reputation in tatters, she closes the monthly publication and retires abroad. All in all, an interesting set of stories wrested from the"dust of history.";)
