Born in Los Angeles, Gloria Grahame, under the tutelage of her mother, actress and teacher Jean Grahame, began her career as a teen on stage and small roles on Broadway. Her film debut came in the 1944 film Blonde Fever, with public recognition in her 1946 role as Violet in It's a Wonderful Life, and she shot to stardom in the 1947 role of Ginny Tremaine in Crossfire. Her final film role was as Florinda in The Nesting, released shortly after her death.
Gloria Grahame died of complications from stomach cancer at the age of 57.
