Mo Gaffney gained national attention when she wrote and starred, with Kathy Najimy, in the Off-Broadway comedy sensation, The Kathy and Mo Show: Parallel Lives. Her critically acclaimed performance earned her an Obie Award. After the show ended its sold-out engagement, HBO taped the comedy and aired it as an hour-long special which went on to win two Cable Ace Awards, "Best Comedy Special" and "Best Performance in a Comedy Special."
Mo wrote, produced and starred in her second HBO special, Kathy and Mo: The Dark Side which went on to win two Cable Ace Awards for "Best Comedy Special" and "Best Performance in a Comedy Special."
Mo has appeared in the films Drop Dead Gorgeous, Happy, Texas, Other Peoples' Money, State of Grace, The Shot, Bogus, The Wedding Band, Inconceivable, The Out-of-Towners, Adventures in Home Schooling, Jailbait, Christmas in L.A., God Bless America, and A Better You, Quality Problems and AbFab: The Movie among others.
On television Mo was a regular in the John Goodman sitcom Normal, Ohio on Fox, and on the WB sitcom Run of the House. She also appeared as Bo in the BBC sitcom, Absolutely Fabulous (1992, 1994, 2000 and 2011), in the two hour special The Last Shout, and in the Absolutely Fabulous: New York 2003 Christmas special. For three seasons, Mo was seen as a regular on the BBC television show The Full Wax , writing and starring in her own segments, Taffy Turner: Inside America. She played Paul and Jamie Buchman's therapist for three seasons on NBC's Mad About You and enjoyed a recurring role for 3 seasons on That 70's Show. She has been seen on Friends, Eight Simple Rules, Tracey Takes on, Veronica's Closet, Roseanne, The Naked Truth, Judging Amy, Without a Trace, State of Mind, Justified, Shameless, House of Lies, Hart of Dixie, Super Fun Night, Mike and Molly, Bad Teacher, Melissa & Joey, Marry Me, Baby Daddy, Brooklyn 99, Devious Maids, Two Broke Girls, Kevin from Work and VEEP among others.
Mo hosted and co-produced the ground breaking half-hourcomedy/talk show, Women Aloud! on Comedy Central -- earning her two Cable Ace Award nominations, and produced and hosted the Fox talk show, The Mo Show.
On stage she has appeared in the three incarnations of The Kathy and Mo Show, Parallel Lives, The Dark Side and Afterbirth. She also starred in the award winning off-Broadway production of Paula Vogel's Minneola Twins with Swoozie Kurtz for the Roundabout Theater in NYC and The Vagina Monologues with Marsha Mason and Lynn Whitfield. She appeared with Harvey Feinstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur in Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl. She starred in Love, Loss and What I Wore at the Annenberg Theater with Coyote Stageworks, and spent a summer at the appearing in Grease at the Ogunquit Theater in Maine.
