Born in Suffolk, England, Bob Hoskins found early acclaim in the breakthrough feature The Long Good Friday and later in Mona Lisa, and also in films such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mermaids and Hook. A former acrobat, he was noted for doing many of his own stunts.
Suffering from Parkinson's disease in later years, Bob Hoskins retired in 2012, and died of pneumonia at age 71 in a London hospital.
