Bruce Gray was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Canadian parents. He returned to Toronto with them when he was thirteen. He attended Humberside Collegiate Institute, where he was an honours student and a member of the swim team and the student council. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters degree in Psychology before heading to London, England, in 1960. Although he began his acting career on stage in the 60s, he quickly moved into daytime dramas. A move to Hollywood in the 80s led to guest star roles on hundreds of TV shows. Most Canadians would know Bruce Gray as the star of the TV series Traders, but most Americans would recognize him as the father of the groom in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
