It was very satisfying to see how two strangers of different ages and backgrounds were able to encourage and help each other. It was also satisfying to see the farewell that Shalini blessed Naz with! I had just watched a documentary, "Mumbai's Dirty Problem: Deonar," that is about one of the garbage/land fill areas that is in dire need of attention/correction. Some of the scenes from the documentary about the slums surrounding Deonar were very similar to that seen in this show. There's still many answers that we have to look forward to in the other episodes.

I've watched Indian horror and Sci-Fi movies, but this is the first dystopian drama and I enjoyed (?) the first episode even though it shows inhumane treatment and abject misery of many women. I still have hope in and for our world, but there are segments that tend to display similar characteristics as we're seeing here. I know that when mobs of like minded people are hyped up on some ideology or complaint, it's not safe for anyone. It's sad to see people who are desperate for water, but even more determined to vent their outrage - so much so that the water they need to live is spilling on the ground while they are fighting against each other. Truly, that's the same arrangement that the leaders designed for Shalini to face her "purity test." Can they get her to the point of destroying those who are in the same struggle and predicament that she's living in? Does anyone else see similar distortions, albeit on a smaller, more circumspect scale, in today's society?
