In the main information on a show have you considered adding a field for the amount of episodes in the current season. I know not all shows have available the amount of episodes but more do than not. A question mark can be placed if its not known initially and then filled in later as that information becomes available.
This would be very helpful for new shows when they are renewed as the 2nd and subsequent seasons can vary with the total of episodes
