Melissa & Joey Xmas Special

Tonight,7:30pm/6:30c, is the Melissa & Joey Xmas Special, This is a pretty special episode for me, because you can hear me laugh!

That's right, I was one of the audience members. What an experience, I loved it so much.

So back in mid October a friend and I went to CBS Redford Studios. When we arrived the lady, at the parking structure, said we were 15 mins too early to park, so stupid. So to get out of the parking lot we had to go in and out. On the other side we noticed an exit and we took that one, instead of doing a round about; but we ended up inside CBS studios! So, since we were already there, we took a little tour around, didn't see anybody though. When we finally found the exit, we went right back to park because by then it was time.

When we got in line, we didn't even have to wait long to go in. The moment I went through the doors I could see all the pictures of the set on the wall, it was so exciting. We walked down a narrow hallway and there it was! The living room scene!!! With all it's glorious Xmas decorations, which were truly amazing and totally got me into the Xmas mood!

For some reason, they sat my friend and I in the front and since this was a special episode there were loads of reserved seats for family members. I sat right between those reserved seats... Later on the family members arrived and I had Joeys kids right behind me, kicking my seat. I didn't realize who they were at the beginning and the smallest behind me told her mom; but I can't see! I offered to give her my seat; but they were nice and thanked me; but that it was OK.

We also had a fluffer, a fluffer is someone that gets the audience into a good mood, in other words a comedian. He was really cool and highly entertaining.

Then came the stars, walking down the living room stairs, they were all dressed up their mid 17th century costumes. Melissa was so cute as she danced down the stairs, in her big dress... she almost tripped. The cast truly has a great relationship, they were so playful with one another and Melissa and Taylor Spreitler, who plays Lennox, were just adorable together. By the way, I kept on catching Taylor staring at me, the set is small so the cast was pretty close. I think she was wondering who's family member I belonged to or just wondering who I was. On top of that, I'm pregnant, so at the time I was a little visible back then. Who's the pregnant girl in the front?

Joey kept on waiving at me and sending me kisses! Or maybe, those were meant to his daughter behind me... whatever, I can dream, right?

Unfortunately, because most of the episode was shot outside of their normal scenes, I couldn't actually see the cast act out in real life; but they had flat screen TVs above our heads so we would see everything. Going to a taping, is really like going to a theater and watching a play... maybe more like dress rehearsals. They would only do a few takes per scene and when they were done the bell would ring and that meant they were moving on to the next scene.

The first scene they taped, started out a little bumpy; which apparently is not normal, at all. Not because they didn't know their lines; but because at one point Melissa and Lennox fell down with their corsets, which was hilarious! Then, in came Melissa's blinded version of a her father, played by Christopher Rich, and he acted the part out soooo well, that he must of truly believed that he was actually blind because he bumped right into a side table and the statue, on top, fell down. It was all pretty darn funny, so you can imagine that it took them a couple of takes to get over it.

Once they did get over it, everything went smoothly and pretty quickly. We were only there for a few hours. Before going to this tapping, I had researched about other tappings done and I read that sometimes you could stay there all day! I was surprised that only four hours later, from arriving there, we were done.

Between takes Joey would come up to me and say hi! I mean, to his daughter... whatever. This is MY article, I can write whatever I want!

Oh, the scenes that you will see in their usual living room were pre-tapped. We actually got to see everything in chronological order, including those pre-tapped scenes! So I basically saw the entire episode already months ago. I'm not here to give out spoilers, just the tapping experience.

So tonight, when I am watching the episode I will be listening intently for my laugh! I made sure to laugh a little longer than everybody else, haha! So if you hear a little giggle at the end of everybody's laughter, THAT'S ME!!!
