The Mindy Project is Back! On Hulu! and it's.....

63078.jpgOkay. It's different. It has some moments of humor but some weird decisions have been made. If you haven't seen this show, watch this trailer, but please don't judge the show entirely on it because when I started watching it, I fell in love with it.

Fox, for some reason around this time, loved making these awful trailers which just portrayed the lead female as an idiot and hardly showing any interaction with her male counter parts, cough cough New Girl cough cough. I remember when this show started and Fox showed this trailer over and over again and i had no interest in wathing it. BUT, my girlfriend loves Mindy Kaling so she convinced me to give it a shot and I loved it.

I love shows that are based in NYC and give NYC some love, even though, sadly, this show isn't filmed there. BUT, Danny Castellano, played very well by Chris Messina, is easily one of my favorite characters. He's a caricature of a New Yorker but also I think resembles a number of people from Staten Island. He really makes this show fantastic. Tamara, played by Xosha Roquemore, is equally fantastic and her lines are delivered with authenticity and hilarity. Mindy Kaling is good as well but I think she truly benefits from this cast of supporting characters as many sitcoms usually do.

Now, the Mindy Project wasn't renewed for it's fourth season with Fox and Hulu decided to step in, continue the show and release a new episode every Tuesday. My girlfriend and I were quite pleased because we loved this show. Recently though some things have changed. We finished watching The Bitch is Back and a number of jokes just didn't hit the mark and it ended with a very weird reveal. I felt, after seeing this show, that the direction the characters were moving in wasn't authentic to them. It made me very uncomfortable. If you have been watching the show, comment below and let me know what your thoughts are. If you haven't, check it out and them comment below!

Having seen Mindy on The Office for a few seasons, and as ditsy she was, I knew being a leading lady probably wasn't right for her, however shortly into Season 1, I was mistaken and started falling in love with the store. Fast forward to season 3, i thought the show started going downhill with all it's seriousness, though I stuck with it, then started hearing rumors that the show was getting axed by FOX but streaming services were interested in it. I knew it would come down to Hulu or Netflix, with hulu the likelihood of the two. So then May comes around, FOX announces it axed Mindy, a few days later Hulu announced it picked it up, I started rewatching the series from the beginning in hopes that Mindy could expand the comedy from the beginning and make this show what it should have been without the limit of network television. So I waited what felt like a decade for the first episode to stream, quickly watched it, and noticed it wasn't the same ole Mindy Project. I've watched every episode to date on hulu and I have to say the show has changed, i'm not sure if it's for the good or bad, only time will tell, but I do know the forced comedy or lack thereof, isn't what I pictured for The Mindy Project on hulu. I hope for more seasons to come, but I wont be sad if it gets a proper send off.
