Fargo Season 2, is Just as Great as Season 1!

Check that, it might be even better then the first season. For those who don't know, Fargo is an incredible show on none other then FX and is closely related to the movie that bears the same name. The first season shares a very important plot point with the movie but season 2 bears no relation to the movie and is in fact a prequel to season 1. Check out the trailer if you haven't seen it already.

Get this gist? Good, because you need to watch this show and here's why.

1. Bokeem Woodbine is fantastic. He is a chilling villain who you want to be friends with. I've seen him in a few bit parts here and there but me oh my, is he incredible in this role.

2. Kirsten Dunst is an anomaly. She's charming, she's beautiful, and she's terrifying. I think I know what she's doing and then we turn a corner ans she hits me over the top of the head with a sink. She's charming and alarming and unpredictable and plays her character unlike anything I've seen from her before. She is the Cohen Brothers thematically realized. She is quirky and prone to ultra-violence when it is absolutely necessary.

3. Patrick Wilson plays a young Lou Solverson and he gives this character such depth that I'm afraid I'll sink in. I want to be in his head because he too is a true Cohen Brothers theme. He's polite, he's charming, he's attractive, but he will break you if he has to. Just an incredible performance from someone that I've been following since he was the Nite Owl in The Watchmen.

4. Jean Smart. Boy do I love me some matriarchs in a crime family. Akin to Margo Martindale in Justified, Smart has to toe the line between motherhood and ruthlessness and she does it exceptionally well. There's a scene in the most recent episode where she attempts to explain the ins and outs of being a strong cunning woman to her granddaughter but never quite gets to finish that lesson. In all honesty, she can't teach she just is. She becomes her character and when her back is pushed against the wall, she will push back and don't you doubt that for one minute.

5. Ted Danson. I've been a fan of his since Damages but my God does he bring it in this show. He has these moments where he comes off as the bumbling idiot or the doldrum grandfather but then he pulls his gun and you know he shoots to kill. You don't doubt it for a second. He's terrifying and friendly which is equally scary.

I guess what I mean to say is watch this show because it has a fantastic plot, some excellent actors displaying some incredible skills. Seriously. These characters exist in reality. They truly do. There is no single individual that is whole-heartedly evil or unapologetic good, their human.

So if you think the Golden Age of Television died with the Sopranos, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, or Deadwood then watch this show. Please give it a shot. It's incredible.
