Silicon Valley Returns!

139265.jpgAnd is just dishearteningly funny as I remember it.

Returning for it's third season, HBO's 'Silicon Valley' recently returned to our screens. We find the Pied Piper team after they had just blown Hooli out of the water with their compression software. However, as typical to Silicon Valley, not all good news is actually good and Richard (Thomas Middleditch) must attempt to take charge of his company once again. Have no idea what I'm talking about? Watch the show and check out the trailer below. Also, spoilers for those who aren't caught up!

Instead of discussing the show as a whole, I want to discuss what I like about where this show is heading and what I think it can do to improve.

My only real critique of this show is the lack of female cast members, which is completely understandable given that it is based in Silicon Valley in which a huge gender disparity exists. I just think the cast as it stands now would benefit from a more integrated female character, and that seems to be the direction the show is heading in.

But other then that, I really enjoy this show and I'm excited to see where it's headed. I like the realistic nature of how the startup is shaping out. The direction of Pied Piper and how Richard relates to his company, makes sense. He isn't CEO material and I like that about the show. It's one of the best depictions of Silicon Valley and the startup scene that I have seen.

I also love how it's a harsh critique of the bubble that is Silicon Valley, without needing to exaggerate any of the aspects of it. It's funny, but you can feel that it isn't trying to be, that this is how individuals in Silicon Valley operate.

I'm interested to see how Action Jack (Stephen Tobolowsky) fits into this show and he already appears to be doing that quite well, two episodes in. The ending of the most recent episode had a fantastic exchange between Richard and Jack that really cut to the core of what Silicon Valley is and what that area is trying to do. Everyone in Silicon Valley is trying to make money. Everyone.

So, I'm in. I'm excited to see these characters once again and cannot wait for the next finale joke that they deliver to top the dick joke of the first season. Are you all caught up? What do you think of this season so far? Comment below and let me know!

This show is great, it has very quality humour! Only thing I would make it a bit more dynamic.

So far the season seems pretty solid, can't wait to see how it evolves until the end! Such a shame the season will only be so short ;n;
