Tonight AXS tv premieres a brand new documentary series, 'Reel to Real' . On the last Tuesday of every month, Eddie Trunk hosts the series which off with GRAMMY®-winning punk rockers Green Day in HEART LIKE A HAND GRENADE. HEART LIKE A HAND GRENADE chronicles the making of the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Green Day's George W. Bush-era protest album American Idiot. The album went on to win a GRAMMY® and was turned into a Broadway Musical of the same name. Other premieres include iconic guitarist Dave Navarro in MOURNING SON (June 28); THIS AIN'T NO MOUSE MUSIC! (July 12); AIN'T IN IT FOR MY HEALTH: A FILM ABOUT LEVON HELM (July 26); WHO IS HARRY NILSSON (AND WHY IS EVERYONE TALKIN' ABOUT HIM)? (August 30); JASON BECKER: NOT DEAD YET (September 27); RADIO UNNAMEABLE (October 25); MUSIC FROM THE BIG HOUSE (November 29); and GENIUS WITHIN: THE INNER LIFE OF GLENN GOULD (Dec. 27).
Here I catch up with Eddie about his involvement in the series and his upcoming TV and radio projects.

1/ Can you tell us what the show 'Reel to Real' is and why you wanted to get involved in it?
It a series of music related documentaries of every genre. I'm a huge fan of documentaries. Especially music docs. So when the folks at AXS TV asked me to host it I was thrilled and honored. It was also cool to have the chance to not only see these films but to be able to write my own scripts most of the time to set them up and welcome the viewer and add some extra content.
2/ What is your favorite film out of those that have been announced as airing this season?
Jason Becker Not Dead Yet. Jason's story is so inspirational. He's was a brilliant guitarist for David Lee Roth who was stricken with ALS and only given a short time to live. 20 plus years later he's still fighting and still cheating music using eye movement. Also Dave Navarro's Mourning Son was very powerful.
3/ Were you aware of all of the films that are featured before making the show?
Some. Not all. The film about radio DJ Bob Fass was one I was unaware of. Being a radio guy all my life that was interesting.
4/ What's the oddest fact that you found out about the production of the films whilst making the show?
Nothing really odd. However, the film Songs From The Big House was a hard one to frame because you grow to like the prisoners in the film as they make music, and almost forget they also committed horrible crimes.
5/ Were you involved in the selection of the movies featured at all?
I was not. That would be the producers at AXS TV who curated the collection.
6/ Is there a film that you'd love for the show to feature in the future?
There's a new documentary on the club years of Twisted Sister I just saw that was really cool. So many great music docs these days.
7/ Have you got any other TV projects lined up in the future?
Yes. I have a pilot I shot for a one on one music interview series called Inside Out with Eddie Trunk. There's a live audience and its kind of like Inside The Actors Studio for music. Ace Frehley is my guest for the pilot. We are about to shop that soon and hope to find a home. I'm also very much hoping we can find a new network for That Metal Show. The fans have been awesome and rabid for its return and we are hoping and looking
