Miss Courtney

Miss Delores Courtney is the principal of a Further Education school, a type of Adult Education, that Mr. Brown and the students attend. While a reasonable boss most of the time, she also makes it clear she prefers to discriminate against the male gender which is revealed to be of two reasons. One of the reasons is from childhood she had a mutual crush with a boy two years older than her. Her parents did not approve of this "older gentleman" thus she carried this grudge with her everywhere since then. Because of this unresolved trauma from childhood, she had created an environment where she is yet again at odds with other males. At work, she barely accepted the innovative yet controversial English As A Second Language classes of which a male educator was assigned to. He not only backed out of the assignment but also attempted suicide at least once. During one month into the term is when she found Mr. Brown who agreed to let him stay on a one month trial hoping that he can turn the class around rapidly, though still preferring a female to teach the classes. Mr. Brown continued to teach the class for several years until the school no longer offered the class any more because the other countries offered it domestically. As most female teachers are with their last names, she had preferred an abbreviated version of the salutation in this case Miss. It is implied that she has always been afraid of her parents, and was never able to commit to any relationship with a man because of that.
