Operator

An Operator is a type of Android that works very basic yet very necessary tasks at a company. They are primarily Telecommunications Operators. Dozens of Operators work the same shift. They are first seen in the 1995 movie. Despite their human appearances, they usually do not have human hands. Instead, they have 20 very long rod shaped metallic fingers that can type any key on a long keyboard without moving their hands. The Operators working at Section 9 during Stand Alone Complex have traditional human hands which are seen unfolding and splitting in half again. This technique is rarely used, as it is much easier to interface with the terminals directly. They also are pilots of air craft and do not escape if the air craft is destroyed. Other times they are Chauffeurs. Section 9's preferred Operator is a red or brown haired lady with her hair slightly worn up. They wear uniforms that match their hair colours. Their vocal patterns are not much different from Proto's. Despite several skills that they have, they are said to not have Ghosts, and are uninterested in hobbies such as literature. They are at odds with the Tachikawas, who have an annoying curiosity that compels them to interfere in other people's lives. Operators do not seem to even have individual names. When giving any Operator instructions, all the the other Operators receive the instructions as well, and one speaks on behalf of the rest of them in acknowledgement. If an Operator has some thing to say, a different Operator might say it instead since they are networked together. It is possible that they have a collective intelligence. Since most Operators behave as if they are practically mindless, The Major is able to hack rival Operators without anybody being suspicious. Season 2's opening segment features Operators typing (with human hands) in the segment before The Chief.
