Oregon's main objective upon first coming university is to reinvent herself in a way that is as far removed as possible from her very middle class upbringing. An excellent student, she's terrified she might be boring, and is constantly worried about what others will think of her. She gives herself a new name (her real name is actually Melissa), and begins to agree with everything the anti-establishment Vod says – even if she's guilty of some of it herself (such as owning a car while at University). The group don't care about her privileged roots though – not even Vod, who becomes very fond of her and comforts her after Oregon's favourite horse dies. The two of them have been travelling in South America over Summer, and, although Oregon insists everything went well, they have come back on different flights…
