Josep is one of the pilots of the Dewalt and a member of Camina Drummer's polyamorous family.
Not much is known about Josep's background. He is a pilot and had formed a polyamorous family with Oksana, Serge, Michio and Bertold prior to Drummer joining them.
Josep is brave, loyal, and down-to-earth. He is very loving and devoted to his loved ones, and is often seen being supportive and rational, giving comfort where it's needed and encouraging trust and solidarity among the family. While most of the family is focused on survival and does not want to cross Marco Inaros, Josep is more morally motivated and voices his dislike for Marco, eventually helping Drummer during her mutiny as he places his loyalty to her above his fear of Marco's retaliation.
Though initially not accustomed to violence (in Drummer's words, he was a builder and not a fighter), Josep is changed by the fracturing of his family and his involvement in the war. He greatly admires Drummer's strength and seeks to emulate it, largely in order to protect the loved ones he has left, which causes him to become hardened and brings out some less positive sides of his character, such as his disregard for the suffering of Earthers. He withstands large amounts of stress and acclimates to the realities of the war, but remains warm and loyal, as even when gravely injured, his sole concern is how quickly he will be able to return to the fight alongside Drummer.
