Monica Stuart is a journalist and filmmaker assigned to film and create a documentary on the lives of the crew of the Rocinante during their journey to the Ring.
Not much is known about Monica's personal life, other than that she has a degree in psychology, but decided to pursue journalism instead of becoming a psychologist.
After the end of the UN-MCR War, Monica was hired to make a documentary about the crew of the Rocinante. Holden only accepted because her employers agreed to paying for the Roci's expensive repairs, as well as the legal fees needed to oppose the MCR's attempt to repossess the ship. Alongside her cameraman Cohen, she interviewed the crew, although Alex was the only one willing to collaborate. She attempted to question Amos regarding his past in Baltimore, revealing that she knew about a crime boss named Amos Burton in the area. Feeling she was pushing boundaries, Amos broke the camera and left. Monica went after him, stating that she just needed his help to make this work, to which Amos said he doesn't care about making it work. She attempted to flirt with him, taking him to be "a guy that gets really sentimental and chatty after sex". At first she seemed to think that it had worked, as he leaned close to her ear. Instead, however, Amos shut her down, walking away after stating: "I don't shit where I eat."
