Mel was a prison guard at HMP Hotten who met with Matty Barton in July 2024. Matty updated Mel that the 'prison psycho' Robbo now knows that he's transgender and that his cellmate Les Carmichael, who also knows he's transgender and has been protecting him, is being released today, and is now worried he'll be crucified in prison. Mel assured Matty that they would everything they can to keep him safe. Mel pointed out the option to remove Matty and put him in segregation, where he would have his own cell and would be in it all the time, but Matty refused.
