DC Marsh interviewed Samson Dingle about him being stabbed by Matty Barton in July 2024. After weeks lying that Matty stabbed him in an unprovoked attack at the Hide Bar & Bistro, Samson's stepmother Lydia Dingle, upon learning the truth, urged Samson to tell the police the truth, despite his dad Sam Dingle wanting him to go on the run. Samson explained to Marsh that Matty was acting in self-defence with the knife after he picked up bottle and threatened him whilst waving it around, but deliberately didn't mention his transphobic friend Josh Cope, who had initiated the altercation by pushing Samson towards Matty whilst he was holding the knife.
