Bean's an unspoken legend. He was the guy in the back that not a lot of people know about, but if you start to read about him, and read his journals, and about the person he was, when you visit those memorials you can kind of feel him there. He's quite subtle and nuanced but very intelligent and humble. The pressure of playing a real person is quite real when it's someone like Charles Bean. But I'd say the pressure is a good thing because it makes you check in every time you go on set. Is this Bean? Am I doing the right thing?'
