Strong, capable and kind, Martha was taken from her family when she was four years old and there's not a day that passes that she doesn't miss her mother. Having given her baby to a nice family with good prospects, Martha is now bent on forging her own career in administration in the hospital. Still wary of men and their intentions, she doesn't initially warm to the advances of new resident doctor Simon Bowditch.
