The struggle for wild game last season in New Mexico's Cimarron Valley came down to the wire for Kyle, so, this season, he plans to tame a wild plot of land and establish a dependable meat supply of his own. He and his son Ben, now 11 years old, work side-by-side to break trail on an area of grassland in high country. They build fences, scout for predators and clear rattlesnakes to prepare for a small herd of cattle. This year, Ben will also become more of a partner instead of a mountain man-in-training.
