Avonlea's local busybody and self-appointed moral guardian; her character originally appeared in Anne of Green Gables. In the beginning of the series, Rachel lives with her best friend, Marilla Cuthbert, at Green Gables. After Marilla's death, Rachel suffers a stroke and moves in with her friend (and sometimes enemy), Hetty King, and they raise Davy and Dora Keith
