The Riddler, real name unrevealed, is a supervillain who opposes Batman. He constructs crimes themed around puzzles and riddles, offering these as clues to the Dynamic Duo of Batman and Robin. Often, the apparent solution to a Ridder clue is misdirection; a second solution points to the actual crime. A typical riddle: "What is it that no man wants to have, yet no man wants to lose?" The answer, a lawsuit, was a clue that Riddler's plot involved an attempt to neutralize Batman by entangling him in the civil court system. Riddler favors the color green, dressing in a bodysuit or sometimes a three piece suit and bowler hat, all green and all adorned with question marks. Aside from his compulsion to offer Batman clues, he is relatively sane, and often sadistic. In multipart stories, when he gets the best of the Dynamic Duo, he traps them in elaborate situations meant to end fatally; Batman escapes with his brain power and the contents of his utility belt.
